Volunteering with Junior Achievement of Georgia through FBLS was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to support middle school students as they explored real-world financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship skills. I enjoyed guiding students through the hands-on activity of the day, answering their questions, and watching their confidence grow as they connected classroom concepts to everyday life.
This experience strengthened my communication and leadership skills, especially as I learned how to break down complex ideas in ways that were engaging and age‑appropriate. I also gained a deeper appreciation for the impact that early exposure to business education can have on students’ long-term goals.
Overall, serving with JA Georgia reaffirmed my commitment to community-centered leadership and reminded me how meaningful it is to pour into the next generation of young innovators.
The NACE Career Competency Area workshop was entitled: Secure the Bag: Success Beyond the Gates on Thursday, October 6-7pm. In this opportunity we were challenged to describe something one has done while performing their community service that required teamwork. What did they like? What did they dislike? From this workshop, I was able to find a new emphasis on teamwork and used the treasured skills I obtained in a public speaking advocacy experience I had during winter break (which contained a group of students to work with).
